TriMet Service Changes Coming Soon

August 27, 2009 by Clint Lundmark

This past spring year TriMet held a series public hearings and open houses regarding proposals to cut certain Max and Bus lines.  Public feedback, ridership data, nearby service, transit equity issues and school/job access helped shape the final service cut plan.  For Eliot Neighborhood bus line 33-Fremont and the Max Yellow Line will see some changes.

The northeast section of 33-Fremont route will be renamed 24-Fremont and will operate weekdays only, running between Gateway Transit Center and Legacy Emanuel Hospital from about 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.  The line will no longer travel along Russell street or go to the Rose Quarter Transit Center. During rush hour buses will run every 20 minutes. Midday and evenings buses will run every 40 minutes. Due to the availability of service nearby, Saturday and Sunday service will be discontinued. Changes are effective September 13th.

The MAX Yellow Line trains will begin serving stops in downtown Portland along the Portland Transit Mall on 5th and 6th avenues. Weekday service before 6 a.m. and after 9:30 p.m. as well Saturdays before 9 a.m. and after 9:30 p.m. and Sundays before 10 a.m. and after 9 p.m will run less frequently.   Changes are effective August 30th.

There are several other changes and minor scheduling adjustments throughout the TriMet system.  Visit trimet.org for more information.
