Thanks to all the hard work of volunteers and generous donations, the annual Eliot clean-up was a success. We removed over 10 tons of debris from the neighborhood, plus a few more tons of scrap metal that were recycled. We also raised about $500, to be used to help fund neighborhood events such as the Dawson Park concerts.
As with any project, it couldn’t have been done without lots of help, and I’d like to take a minute to thank all those who made it possible:
New Seasons Market, for sponsoring 2 of our drop boxes
Emanuel Hospital, for once again allowing us to use their parking lot
Julius Jackson and his crew, for keeping scrap metal out of the landfill
Les Schwab, for disposing of tires
NECN, for their continued financial and knowledgeable support (Thanks, Katy!)
Metro, for waiving tipping fees
Wonder Ballroom, for their generous donation to the neighborhood
And of course our awesome volunteers:
Chris, for his invaluable advice, taking charge of the flyers, and working the clean up
Ken, for volunteering his time and truck to pick up for our senior and disabled residents
Lee, Barry Joe, Clint and Tamille, for giving up their Saturday morning to help out.
And a special shout out to the guys from VOA’s Men’s Residential Center. Once again, we couldn’t have done it without you!
Thank you Julie! This was a huge undertaking and you pulled it off on the first try!
