REVIEW MEETING AGREEMENTS: Laura Fay reviewed the meeting agreements.
PUBLIC COMMENT: Will Lathrop introduced himself as a candidate for Oregon Attorney General. His website (www.willlathrop.com).contains biographical and policy information.
APPROVE MINUTES FROM THE JUNE 17TH MEETING: Laura called for a motion to approve the minutes from the June 17th meeting. Serena made the motion, and Alice seconded.
NEIGHBORHOOD SAFETY: Laura reported on continued efforts with the city to direct resources to Stanton Street.
SUMMER ACTIVITIES: Jennifer Wilcox reported on Sunday’s neighborhood yard sale. It was, by all important metrics, a great success. We connected with neighbors, some of them multi-generational Eliot residents who shared what they valued growing up in Eliot, and what they miss. We talked about the importance of ENA participation. We learned about and implemented new payment options, and brainstormed future events. We intend to have monthly events on Stanton throughout the year, and are already planning August’s yard sale.
Some vendors donated unsold items that Jennifer was able to bring men’s clothing back to the Garlington Center, and we do have a stash of items for August’s sale.
Serena Li called attention to Bliss Suh’s email, listing out options for monthly Stanton closure events.
Jennifer shared information about the upcoming resource fair in Dawson Park. They anticipate having 6-7 different vendors. She is sending a digital flyer so it can be distributed through ENA’s website.
Serena shared information about Miracle Club’s Soul Stroll, August 24 at 6:30am. Several ENA folks intend to participate. Jennifer moves that we spend $50 towards ENA’s registration. Serena seconds and the motion passes with one abstention.
Serena also called attention to SEI’s August 10 Homecoming event in Unthank Park.
ELIOT NEWS: With new payment options available, Allan intends to work on collecting ad revenue from the last newsletter. He intends to produce a September newsletter, which would arrive prior to the October general meeting. Jennifer offered to contribute an article about the neighborhood yard sale(s), and Marquisa will contribute an article about the resource fair.
