Save the date for the upcoming intersection repaint block party for the Eliot Community Crossing, intersection of NE Tillamook and Rodney Ave. as a part of the city wide City Repair’s Village Building Convergence.

Can you believe that we are four weeks away from our 3rd annual block paint party? Time sure is flying by! Looking forward to seeing the many familiar and new faces of Eliot neighborhood.

Right, so let’s get to it.

We are attempting to get a sense of who will be on hand and what times folks will be joining the party! Please RSVP to provide our planning team a general head count. The dates are Friday 5/29 6p-9p to power wash and prep the intersection and then Block Party Saturday 5/30 10a (some of us will be out there much earlier) to 9p for the day long community gathering, and if needed for finishing touches Sunday 5/31 8a-12p; Our rain dates are 6/5-6/7.

It’s clear that this fun community event could not happen without the contributions, energy and time of many. That said here are a few things we could use a hand with or will need for party day.

• The core organizing team could use a few more dedicated souls to assist with the pre-planning that leads up to the event, such as picking up food, supplies, barricades, obtaining signatures, distributing flyers, assisting with other communications, etc.
• Are you or do you know of any musicians or entertainers that would like to perform during the event? At the minimum we could use someone that has access to a PA system/ sound system we could plug in an iPod to.
• Do you have a gift for connecting with kiddos? We’re Looking for fun ways to include the smaller participants. Puppet or magic show perhaps?
• Supplies for borrowing or open to permanent donation for the years to come: Two staple guns, 3-4 long folding tables, 3-4 pop up canopies, tarps, water hoses, very long extension cords, yogurt containers.

That should get us started for now.
