Some families like to drive or walk around their neighborhood on the night before the big day to enjoy the festive lights and decorations on neighbors houses. For the past 2 weeks Eliot Neighborhood has been featuring houses in the neighborhood with holiday cheer on Instagram.

National Night Out Recap

On August 4 at Dawson Park about 75 neighbors gathered for National Night Out. Dawson Park regulars, neighbors new to Eliot, members of the Neighborhood Association and some local businesses all came together to share a potluck dinner, enjoy music by Anna Paul and the Bearded Lady, and get to know our neighbors a little better.

There’s a lot going on in Eliot. From events this past summer sponsored by Legacy Emanuel Medical Center and Portland Parks and Recs to National Night Out, summer was definitely not boring. Fall gives us a chance to regroup as we start a new school year and we hope to bring to your attention some awareness about new businesses in Eliot, future changes to our neighborhoods and business districts, and unfortunately point out how to avoid the brazen bike thieves that seem to be so very busy lately.
Pending Sewer Work

Residents of south Eliot and others may have noticed all of the colored paint on the street, sidewalk and even parking strips as well as surveyors blocking traffic on MLK weekend mornings. This is all part of planning for the City’s South Eliot Sewer and Storm Water Project. The project is tentatively scheduled to begin in the spring of 2017, so it is a ways off.
