Starting May 3 there will be a Farmers Market about a mile north of Eliot Neighborhood. Portland Farmers Market in partnership with Northeast Coalition of Neighborhoods plans to open the Sunday market in the King Neighborhood.
The King Farmers’ Market was created in response to overwhelming community demand to have a farmers market at a close-in N/NE location. Since the announcement of the proposed market opening, NECN and PFM have been amazed by the community excitement and support surrounding the opening of the market.
The King Farmers Market is scheduled to start Sunday May 3 at the King School, Park and King Neighborhood Facility at NE 7th and Wygant. However, there are a few hurdles remaining, primarily around zoning of the parking lot where the market will be held. Apparently the parking lot is zoned residential.
