The Architectural Heritage Center is planning a Historic Albina Walking Tour that will take place mostly in Eliot Neighborhood on Sunday October 20th at 4:00 pm.

From the AHC site:

Once an incorporated city, separated from Portland, Albina has a lengthy and diverse history, and of course, some fascinating architecture! This tour explores old Albina including both commercial and residential neighborhoods. Along the way you’ll hear stories of Albina’s early proprietors and learn about the area’s development from a railroad town to its transformation into the heart of Portland’s African-American community. You’ll see first hand the impacts of earlier public urban renewal programs, as well as some wonderful historic preservation efforts.

The walk costs $10 for AHC members and $15 for the general public. For more information and to sign up see the Historic Albina Walking Tour page.
