A series of short posts about some of the beautiful murals in and around our amazing neighborhood. 

The mural at the southwest corner of NE Broadway St. and NE Grand Ave. was painted in 2007 by “the people of Portland”.

The mural commemorates a sister-city relationship between Portland and Mutare, Zimbabwe. The aim of the partnership is to foster cultural exchange, and since 1991 delegations have made trips back and forth to learn about each culture and, as the Portland-Mutare Sister City website describes, to “learn from our differences, celebrate our similarities, and nurture our interconnectedness”.
