Meet the Board – Jere Fitterman
“Meet the board” is a series of posts to help you get to know the members of your Eliot Neighborhood Association Board.
Jere has lived in Eliot since Jan 2009. She has been on the board for two years as Co-Chair with Patricia Montgomery. This year she is the Chair. Jere wanted to join the board because she wanted to get to know more neighbors and get involved in local issues and events.
Meet the Board – Maggie Gardner
“Meet the board” is a series of posts to help you get to know the members of your Eliot Neighborhood Association Board.
Maggie has lived in Eliot for 12 years. She has attended meetings sporadically over the years, but never been on the board before this year. She just got elected Vice Chair and is interested in exploring what might unite and engage our community.
Meet the Board – Sue Stringer
“Meet the board” is a series of posts to help you get to know the members of your Eliot Neighborhood Association Board.
Sue is fairly new to Eliot. She has lived in the neighborhood for the last five years but has lived in Portland on and off for 21 years. Sue joined the board as the Eliot News Editor in 2014. She joined the board because she wanted to get more connected with the neighborhood and meet new neighbors.

Shireen has lived in Eliot at two different times. Once was when she was younger while she was growing up and recently for the past 10+ years.
Meet the Board – Anna Daggett
“Meet the board” is a series of posts to help you get to know the members of your Eliot Neighborhood Association Board.
Anna has lived in the Eliot neighborhood for a year and a half and in Portland for seven years. This is her first term as a board member. She wanted to join the board to increase her knowledge and awareness about what is going on in the Eliot neighborhood.
Meet the Board – Monica Choy Salazar

Monica has lived in the Eliot neighborhood since May 2017 and has worked here since August 2013. She just joined the board in October and we’re excited that she was willing to be elected as our Recorder. She is happy to live and work in Eliot and wants to be more involved in the community here.
Meet the Board – Brad Baker
“Meet the board” is a series of posts to help you get to know the members of your Eliot Neighborhood Association Board.
Brad has lived in Eliot for a little less than a year. Before living in Eliot, he lived in Goose Hollow. Brad just got elected to our board in October. He is interested in helping Eliot be as wonderful as it can potentially be. To him, that means a diverse, safe, affordable, sustainable, and welcoming community.
Meet the Board – Wes Ayres

Wes has lived in Eliot since 2006. He joined the ENA board a year ago based on interest in Land Use and Transportation issues, especially along the MLK corridor.
Meet the Board – Patricia Montgomery
“Meet the board” is a series of posts to help you get to know the members of your Eliot Neighborhood Association Board.
Patricia is a native Oregonian and has lived in Eliot for 28 years. She has been on the board for five years with the last two years being our Co-Chair with Jere Fitterman. Her favorite things about the neighborhood are the accessibility to the city, the diversity of the neighborhood and the sense of a caring community.
Meet the Board – Jim Hlava

Jim has been a Portland resident for the last 34 years and has lived in the Hollywood District for 27 years. Jim has been a board member since 2008 and has been our Treasurer for the last year and will continue on with that position this year.
Meet the Board – Jimmy Wilson
“Meet the board” is a series of posts to help you get to know the members of your Eliot Neighborhood Association Board.
Jimmy does not live in the Eliot neighborhood but has worked here for nine years. He just joined our board in October for the first time. He wanted to join the board to change how people communicate with each other.

A Letter From the Chair
At the beginning of each new year we each face the unknown with renewed focus, both for ourselves, and as a community. It is a time to rethink our focus and find new ways to become more effective. This is a time to get to work.
Get Involved
As I look back on this past year I am so pleased that I took the opportunity to become involved with Eliot Neighborhood Association. The new neighbors I met, new businesses, civic leaders, local businesses all in our ever-changing neighborhood. Thirty years living in this neighborhood I always felt change meant being left behind sometimes. You know that feeling that your taxes would force you out, or your new neighbors would be unruly to you- that word they call gentrification. So untrue I found. I realized, you only get left behind or are blind to change if you don’t become part of what is going on. Eliot Neighborhood Association is a good start to becoming involved in your neighborhood, not only does it keep you informed and up to date with what is going on in our neighborhood but allows you to become part of the change.
