Join us October 17th at the Eliot Neighborhood General Membership Meeting and let your voice be heard. This is one of two meetings of the year where all residents can vote on issues discussed at the meeting. Everyone in attendance who is from Eliot Neighborhood is also welcome to participate in the election of the new Board for the 2016-2017 term.
Letter from the Board Chair
I love living in Eliot Neighborhood. I love the proximity to shops, restaurants and services. I love being near the River for walking and enjoying beautiful views. But mostly I love running into people I know and how easy it is to get to know neighbors. People are friendly and helpful. I’m looking forward to all the outdoor events over the summer (see Spring-Summer Events 2016) where I’m sure to meet folks I know.
Clean Up Recap

Eliot is looking much cleaner after our annual Spring Clean-Up on May 22 sponsored by Metro and the Bureau of Planning and Sustainability. About 50 families brought their unwanted items and junk to the clean-up site at Legacy Emanuel parking lot on Williams and Graham. We collected 4 dumpsters full of junk, 1333 pounds of electronics to be recycled, many boxes of books, hundreds of articles of clothing, reusable household items and a pick up truck full of scrap metal. Donations from the event totaled close to $800 which will be used to help sponsor events like the free Dawson Park Concerts, the Jambalaya festival, the Soul Stroll and other neighborhood events. This is the Eliot Neighborhood Association’s main fund raiser for the year so it was good to see so many residents in attendance.
Letter from the Board Chair
In the midst of changes…
I gaze at the stream of traffic, the watch the bicycles zipping past, and smell the fresh aroma of the cafés nearby. New faces, new places, a mix with the old, and I wonder how do we maintain a balance to give us strength, maintain some tradition and expand through all this growth.
Letter from the Newsletter Editor
Spring has sprung in Eliot and visions of sunshine and warmer weather permeate my daydreams. As I look at all the articles in the Spring issue of Eliot News, there seems to be a lot about dreams both hoped for and fulfilled.
Letter from the Chairs
In November 2015, Patricia Montgomery and I were elected co-chairs of the Eliot Neighborhood Association Board.
Patricia Montgomery is a native Oregonian but has lived in Eliot for 26 years, working and raising her children. Her favorite things about the neighborhood are the accessibility to the city, the diversity of the neighborhood and the sense of a caring community. When she’s not working Patricia volunteers at her church, St. Philip the Deacon, at Rodney and Knott Street, where the ENA, Eliot Neighborhood Association meetings are held.
Letter from Board Chair
Let me begin by thanking the many Board members and volunteers who have made the last six months one of the most open and engaging times in my history of being involved on the Board since 2009. I am retiring as Chair but plan to continue to be involved to hand over the reins and to challenge you to volunteer with Eliot.
Up Close and Personal: Pat Montgomery
Reasons To Join Our Board

You probably can tell a story about your best group experiences. We aim to have those at all our Eliot meetings. We want you to feel welcome and connected and sense the trust even when no ones talking. As Chair, I welcome you to consider joining our Board or our committees and I have nine reasons you might want to:
