The brewery’s mission is to make high-quality craft beer and is committed to donating net proceeds to selected non-profits. The brewery is emphasizing its brews, and as Gregory puts it, “We take beer here seriously.”

Walking around Eliot, there is a wide range of restaurants, coffee shops, and retail, everything from barbershops to the Nike Outlet store. There are parks and a first rate hospital, even a brand new grocery store. With first rate bike lanes, great bars, and public transit, what more could you ask for? Ah, but what about a place to work out? When I moved into Eliot in March 2008, I was hoping for a fitness studio close to my house. Luckily, Portland Team Fitness arrived on NE MLK right across Fremont in the King Neighborhood Area in May 2008.

Bella Mi Soap Company is one of the newest additions to the North Williams Corridor. At a time when many products you find on the shelves are laden with chemicals or tainted by greenwashing, it’s refreshing to find a business that actually lives up to the principles of sustainability.

If you check out the Portland Crime Map for our neighborhoods, it’s apparent that theft from cars and vehicle theft are two of the most common type of crimes in our neighborhoods. It’s also apparent when you’re biking down a busy street and see a smattering of broken glass in front of you that you have to quickly zigzag around.
Eliot’s annual Spring Clean-Up will be held Sunday, April 27th between 11 am – 3 pm on N. Graham between N. Williams and N. Vancouver. It’s time to clear out the clutter from your closets, rooms, basement, yard and garage. Bring your unused and unusable junk of all sizes and shapes. Clean out your surplus metal, furniture, clothes and more. Fees range from $5 and up. No yard debris, construction debris, raw garbage or hazardous materials can be accepted.

Last night Portland Bureau of Transportation (PBOT) held an open house for the “Rodney Bikeway Project” at Immaculate Heart Catholic Church community room. In summary, PBOT wants to make Rodney, from Broadway up to Killingsworth a “Bikeway”. The idea is to give bikers a calm and safe route up and down Rodney. It was a well-attended event.
Looking at the designs, there are three problems to be concerned about.

Many of us have ignored the sound of a trickling stream coming from our toilet, or maybe we’ve chosen to overlook those small, slow drips from a bathroom faucet or kitchen sink. After all, how much water do they really waste?
You may recall last September seeing promotional materials for a block party in the southern part of the neighborhood. That same weekend Portland had that unseasonal cold rainy and windy storm. The block party was supposed to be Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider welcome to the neighborhood. Unfortunately it did not happen, but Rev Nat’s is still here.
The cidery and public taproom is located in the newly refurbished “Trade Bindery” building. The bulk of their space is the cidery where apples are turned into bubbly beverages. However, they reserved a small portion for the “public taproom” where you can go and taste a flight of cider, get a pint, or buy a bottle to take with you.

The Eliot Neighborhood Beauty Committee is part of a partnership with the Portland Trail Blazers to improve the livability of Eliot and mitigate the negative impacts of Moda Center events. We are currently looking for small, meaningful projects that will help improve the physical landscape or personal community in the neighborhood. A small amount of grant funds are available for this work.
